Quick quote from my friend and fellow Georgetown alum Graham “The Ham” Brock, who was watching the game at home: “I kept switching back and forth between the Georgetown game and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and I couldn’t decide which was more painful.”
That about says it all. For those of us on the west coast or without the benefit of ESPN Full Court, this was a particularly gut-wrenching score to track on your smart phone. The Hoyas were down by 5 points for most of the final 10 minutes, until finally drawing even in the last minute of the game.
The story of the game starts with the 19-2 Seton Hall run in the second half that nearly sank the Hoyas. Georgetown fans are going to have to live and die this season by their team’s streaky shooting. It feels incredible when the shots are falling and absolutely torture when they can’t find the basket. The Hoyas found their shot at the end of the game and were able to stay consistent at the free throw line to avoid a loss that would have surely dropped them out of the Top 25, and dare I say it, onto the bubble?! Not yet, but a rematch with St. John’s awaits…
More detailed analysis will return next week. Stay tuned.
