A Look At…Moses Ayegba

This is the second in a series previewing the 2010-2011 Hoyas.  For a complete look at this year’s team, go here.

Moses Ayegba is a 6’9″, 250 lb. center who arrived in the U.S. less than a year ago from Nigeria.
He’s the first Hoya to get his own profile, but also the one about whom we know perhaps the least.  Occasionally known as Moses Abraham, the big man matriculated at Progressive Christian (Md.) and was immediately recruited by a host of national hoops programs despite his recent arrival, with the Hoyas eventually securing his services.  Ayegba is universally described as very raw, but is equally widely known for having a long wingspan, superb athleticism, and terrific timing on the defensive end.  This video suggests that he’s limited but competent in the post, and an effective force around the basket.  Ideally, Ayegba and Nate Lubick will provide interior defensive and rebounding prowess that the Hoyas have recently lacked, particularly from their second unit.  Large contributions appear beyond reasonable expectations for the coming season, but look for Ayegba to provide a spark off the bench, particularly as the season wears on.
